Let me give an example.

As a child I used to enjoy playing football (soccer) alongside older and more powerful children than myself, who I found more challenging opponents for our matchup.

At that point in my career, it became necessary for me to adapt in order to remain competitive at their standard of performance and compete effectively with them. At that time I had already begun exercising to improve cardiovascular fitness but hadn’t tried any resistance training yet.

My friend asked if I wanted to try going to the gym at some point; so, when asked, I said sure and made time to experience all its physical and mental benefits. It proved an engaging challenge both physically and psychologically.

After two or three months of exercising regularly, I noticed tangible physical changes within my body as my physical strength began to increase. Beyond the obvious physical benefits, however, fitness also had profound mental benefits which began to manifest themselves over time.

Physical benefits were significant and helped me develop mental wellness benefits as well. Yet what really stood out to me were how confident and secure my feelings of myself were.

Confidence started to seep into every area of my life and reflect back upon me – eventually leading me down a journey toward self-development and building my self-assurance.

Exercise became both mentally and physically beneficial to my training; each gym workout became an opportunity to foster discipline that has since helped propel me toward my current success.
